The Kamakura Annex, which opened in 1984, is located 350 meters on foot from the old Kamakurakan (closed in March 2016) toward Kita-Kamakura. The designer is Masato Otaka (1923-2010). It is designed to blend into a residential area sandwiched between mountains. It has been reopened on October 12, 2019, after more than 30 years of opening and about two years of closures due to equipment repairs and user service improvements. The walls of the exhibition room have been redesigned, and a cafe space has been added to the terrace facing the sculpture garden to improve accessibility. (Photo by Keizo Kioku)
