This park is known as a former site where British and French soldiers’ barracks were built after Yokohama port opening. As a park, it was opened in 1962. Later, the former area of French Consulate was merged into the park as a French mountain and the former residence of British Consulate was opened as a British House. Also, the Osaragi Jiro Memorial Hall and the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature were opened here in 1978 and in 1984 respectively and nowadays this place has turned into a crowded walking course overlooking Yokohama Harbor. It is also famous for its Rose Garden where roses - flowers of Yokohama city - fully bloom in May and October.
