Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY) is located on the 3rd floor of a retro space that has been restored from the warehouse dedicated to the former Yokohama Raw Thread Inspection Center. A dance house that plans and manages businesses that specialize in developing a professional dance environment and developing all kinds of dance-related creators. Eri Karatsu (Senior Producer of Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater) serves as an artistic director, and for the development of dance, which is a complex art, not only artists such as choreographers and dancers, but also musicians, artists, filmmakers, lighting designers, and sound designers. We also aim to be a hub for producers, production staff, critics, researchers, and spectators. Dance Base Yokohama has been nicknamed DaBY so that it will be a magnetic field = platform where many people around dance can gather without barriers. Although it is a residence space for creation, we plan to interact with local artists and citizens, hold workshops, experimental tryout performances, dance archive projects, and more.
