The first Western-style street in Japan completed around 1897 by the design of RH Brunton. There are many heavy historical buildings such as Kanagawa Prefectural Office, Yokohama Archives of History Museum, Yokohama District Court, Mitsui Bussan Yokohama Building, and Former Kanto Local Finance Bureau. During the fall foliage season, the sidewalk cafe along the road is a popular resting spot where you can see beautifully colored ginkgo trees.
