Until 2005, the Koganecho district was lined with more than 250 illegal specialty restaurants. The appearance of the town has changed little by little since the Koganecho Bazaar that started in 2008. Local people and artists worked together to revitalize the town, and it is now known as the "art town of Koganecho."
