TARO OKAMOTO MUSEUM of ART

The Municipal Museum of Art opened in 1999, three years after Taro Okamoto, one of Japan's leading artists of the 20th century, passed away. The collection of 1779 works donated by Taro Okamoto to Kawasaki City is on display. In addition to planned and permanent exhibitions, various events such as museum tours and workshops are also held. The symbol tower of the Taro Okamoto Museum is the 30-meter-high "Mother's Tower." Faithful to Taro Okamoto's intention based on a prototype that was created in the image of "the robustness of a giant tree deeply rooted in the earth", "the gentleness of a warm and plump mother", and "the eternal life burning toward the sky" It was reproduced and produced.
